Brody Merlot, formerly known as the Da 3rd Element, is an Ohio bred emcee and songwriter.

In 2003, Brody escaped the poor economic climate of North East Ohio and relocated to Cincinnati to attend Xavier University. There, he gained the respect of the underground hip hop community and earned a name for himself (Da 3rd Element). Influenced by Camron, Fabolous, and Joe Budden he released several projects with collaborations from Tanya Morgan, Eternia, and Deion. He created pertinent material for a growing audience and nailed live performance engagements with Talib Kweli, Little Brother, and Stalley.

In 2013, he moved to Los Angeles to further his career. As a resident of Leimert Park, he’s promoting the release of his new album, “CinciCali.” The California lifestyle continues to influence his sound and it permeates throughout the project. Da 3rd Element has truly evolved into Brody Merlot; a pseudonym he was given due to his affinity for wine.  The LP is entirely produced by Epik the Dawn and features other artist who left Cincinnati to pursue their California Dreams. Cheers to Brody Merlot!
